Gallery v1.4 and Gallery Remote v1.1 Release Candidate 1 Available!

This is the first *release candidate* for Gallery v.1.4, as well as Gallery Remote v.1.1. This new version premieres some major new features: Gallery is now multilingual, and can be displayed in 18 different languages, with more on the way! In addition, we've overhauled the documentation and made it more accessible and more informative. Other changes include ownership at the image level, not just the album level, and a whole slew of minor improvements and bugfixes.
In addition, Gallery Remote v.1.1-RC1 is also now available. This new version now sports a preferences dialogue. Also: Proxy and HTTPS support, ability to rotate pictures before uploading them, a more efficient protocol for getting the list of albums, and support for the "Extra Fields" functionality introduced in Gallery 1.3.4.

Gallery needs translators!

Due to some hard work by Jens Tkotz and Joan McGalliard, the next release of Gallery will be translated into at least 13 different languages! This is a major milestone for Gallery and has been a hotly requested feature.
In order for us to actually ship it in all of these languages, we need to form a translation team. This team will be in charge of keeping the translated versions of Gallery up to date as we make changes to the code and to the English text. If you want to help translate Gallery into your own native language, we could really use your assistance.
Jens is in charge of this effort and he has set up the new Gallery 1.x Translations Forum to help us manage this process. Head on over there and help out! Don't forget to read the READ ME post in the forum.

NukedGallery.net: A Dedicated PHP-Nuke Gallery Website

Dariush Molavi has launched a new website called NukedGallery.net that is dedicated to integrating Gallery into PHP-Nuke.
In case you're unfamiliar with it, PHP-Nuke is a content management system very similar to the one that powers the gallery website. Gallery can operate as a PHP-Nuke module such that it appears as a Nuke component. However, the integration is not perfect and often requires more care and feeding than we've been able to give it.
Dariush has stepped up and created a website that is all about this integration and will be working on making sure that Gallery and PHP-Nuke work well together. If you use or are interested in using Gallery in this environment, please head over to his site and check it out!

Gallery v1.3.4-pl1 security release

We received email this morning from Larry Nguyen, an alert and responsible Gallery user who notified us about a cross-site-scripting flaw in Gallery that affects all released versions from v1.1 to v1.3.4. This security flaw can allow a malicious user to craft a URL that executes Javascript code on your website.
We estimate the security risk of this flaw to be relatively minor, however we take all security issues very seriously. You can download patch instructions or a complete version of Gallery including the new changes from the Download Page on SourceForge.

New Documentation released!

Thanks to a lot of hard work by the gallery core team, we've released a new version of the Gallery help documentation, including a brand new FAQ! As part of this change, I've reordered the left sidebar to (hopefully) make it easier to find the features that we use the most. This documentation is still incomplete, but it is a significant improvement over our old documentation!

Java developers wanted

In the past couple of months, we've had a lot of time to work on Gallery and Gallery Remote, and the community spirit of the core developers is such that we've made rapid progress with both projects.
But it's never enough: we have many, many plans, and while a several people work on G1 and G2, I'm the sole developer for Gallery Remote. So I'd like to actively encourage Java developers who are excited by the Gallery project and who would like to contribute, to get in touch with me.
