hello there,

I am a newbie so don't flame if i have infringed any of the rules of this board. Thanks..

I am about to install Gallery on my wordpress blog.

I would like to be able to buy a digital photo frame for my parents who live at the other side of the world and for this to always show the latest pictures i have uploaded to Gallery.

In my dreams the photo frame could take an rss feed from my gallery and download photos to the frame automatically. Hence the frame would for example always display the latest album uploaded. So my parents could always see the latest pictures uploaded.

I wonder of there is a photo frame in the market that can achieve this or if i have to build a dedicated small PC to achieve this.

Any comment/similar experience would be very appreciated :)

okay there are plenty of photo frames that can connect to a wifi connection.

for example

Most of the picture frames can show pictures from Flickr for example.

Is there some setup with a picture frame that would show the latest pictures posted in my gallery? Has anyone done that?

I'd certainly love to know if there's a digitial picutre frame out there that can display images from The Gallery. I've got a gallery instance that I'd love to just point digital frames at and watch them go. :)

I'm interested in this as well. Anyone have any hands-on experience with any of the RSS/Wifi capable digital picture frames?

It'd be a perfect solution for my Grandparents to stay current on all our family photos.

I understand that Gallery has the capability to provide RSS feeds, that theoretically could be parsed by a digital picture frame. My specific question is whether anyone has any hands-on experience with a digital picture frame, that is wifi enabled, and works well with Gallery 3? If so, which product, and are there any caveats?

I think a product that would allow non-technical folks to access Gallery would be awesome. If I could give my grandparents a digital picture frame that, after the initial set up (done by me), updated on its own and showed the latest pictures - in a totally automated, hands-off manner, then that would be very cool (and very much appreciated by them).

I've done a lot of research in this area, and can't find any product that definitively supports RSS/Wifi. There are those products that support(ed) FrameChannel, but they are shutting down. Then there's the Kodak Pulse line, but again, a reliance on a 3rd party service, and I don't believe these frames support RSS.

So, yes, I understand Gallery is more than capable of doing what I want. But is there any product on the market today that can take advantage of this capability?

I'm seeing at least 2 other brand here:
https://encrypted.google.com/search?q=wifi+photo+frame

Whether they utilize RSS feeds or don't rely on a 3rd party I have no idea.

If you're that into it, I've seen people make "photo frames" from an LCD monitor and a small form-factor PC or old laptop (hacked up) to do this and then you've have a full PC at your disposal :)
