Module: Tag Albums

Hello Just did another completely new reinstall. Switched theme to Grey Dragon since it is still in active development and you and Serge are in communication. Tags don't work here, either. Even with all modules disabled except tags, tag_album, grey dragon, and module order. Clicking on a photo either does nothing, or it displays the photo in the original album instead of the tag album. Then advances go through the original album instead of tags. When I disable tag_albums both the tags and search works as it should. However, when I reactivate tag_albums, not only does it not work, but it breaks tags in the same way. Search, on the other hand, still works, and the search albums work as expected. I tried using the tag_album version from the gallery3-contrib-master file, then saw you had posted an update in your 8/14/12 post. I replaced the contrib files with your updated ones from the forum: http://gallery.menalto.com/files/tag_albums.zip I then replaced GD's paginator.html.php and photo.html.php with the two files you included in the Theme Files directory. Also replaced GD's libraries/My_Theme_View.php I tag_albums have always been above tags in the module order module I really like your mod's promise, but I guess I live without it since tags and search work. But since this is a fresh install, and I'm using the theme you're trying to match, I think this issue goes beyond my install. =========================== |

I am successfully using Greydragon 3.2.2 and Tag_Albums together. Either you're not using the latest version of one of them (note: I wouldn't suggest using GD4 beta just yet with Tag_Albums), or you've over looked something. Note that Tag_Albums replaces several GD files. So some of the files in the Tag_Albums zip need to go under themes rather than under modules. One option is to simply replace the versions in the GD theme folder. Another slighlty more elegant approach is the place them under .../themes/custom/views/xxxx.php |

Thanks for the reply. Here are the version numbers I'm using from each module.info GD Module: 13 As far as I can tell, these are all the most current. I got the files from the locations I mentioned in my post. Using the module/theme.info files, here are the versions I'm using: Tag Albums: version 4 Concerning statement about the file replacements, here's what I did. BillWill wrote:

I *think* that tag_albums get's confused when there are more than one tag on a photo in a tag album, but have ho idea how to check this. I have diligently done troubleshooting, and reported my findings in as much detail as possible. I have reinstalled Gallery three times and am having this issue, and getting nowhere. Not complaining, as I know this is all volunteer coding and support. I've opened a paid support ticket, as I changed my mind about this mod: I can't live without it after all. I'm not a world-class photographer like many here are. I just love my community and take photos of non-profit community events around our city. Many participants are part of more than one event, and it's fun for them to see their own special gallery named for them with photos from different years and different events. I'll let you know here what happens with the paid support, even it it's a stupid move on my part. ;) =========================== |

I can't see anything obvious. I have mentioned to rWatcher how hard it is to be sure that you have the latest version of Tag Albums. There are two ways to have the Tag Albums replacement files take precedence over the theme files - your way and the custom folder under themes. All I can say is that it works for me. All I needed to do after installing all the modules is to replace the three theme files and use the Module Order module to put Tag Albums above Tags. I'll give it some more thought. Hopefully rWatcher will reappear and can spot the issue. |

Could it be conflicting with an outdated module like it was last time? If you'd like to send me a list of which modules you're using I can try and reproduce / debug the problem. |

Hi rWatcher - Didn't see your reply until now when I came to report the results of paid support: "Unfortunately we are unable to offer paid-support services for 3rd party modules. Glad you're still willing to help. Quote:
Could it be conflicting with an outdated module like it was last time? I used all the new versions of your adopted "children": author, basket, and your own tag_album. I did my best to find the most current versions of the other modules, but frankly, they are scattered all over the place, with different versions everywhere. Github, gallerymodules.com, wiki, random forum posts... Finding the most current version of anything is quite a challenge. So is finding which modules clash with which other modules and which other themes. I'll send you the list you requested, or if you like I would be happy to pay you to fix things. My dilemma is that one theme supports some modules, and other themes support other modules. For me to get the combination of theme and module seems impossible. The only guarantee of a successful website based on Gallery is to use the core program with only default modules and default themes. As I told floridave in a pm about my wanting to help sort this out, the message on the Gallery3 admin panel for modules doesn't live up to its promise. "Power up your Gallery by adding more modules! Each module provides new cool features" is far more of a risk than a promise as things stand. Too bad user contributed modules and themes can't be reviewed and then brought into the core. That would make that promise much easier to keep. blah blah blah. Sorry for the rant. I'll send you the list of what I have going. =========================== |

Here's the list of installed mods and their versions. I preceded the ones currently inactive with an asterisk. Author 2 =========================== |

Hi, I've tried to match your setup as closely as I can, but I can't reproduce a problem with tag albums. Using default config settings for all the modules, gd theme, etc, tag albums is working properly. I've attached below a log of everything that I did to set up a test gallery, including where everything was downloaded from. Maybe I'm doing something differently? Quote:

Hello rWatcher - Thanks for setting up the test. I am confident that I have things setup exactly as they should be. I am also confident that your setup works. However, things are still screwy over here. I spent another half hour today running some more trials, and here's what I found. I hope this brings you enough information to help narrow down the cause. Starting out, they all work the same: click a tag from the Tag Albums link, and it opens a page of the right photos, with the tag at the top of the page as it should be. After that, there seem to be two possible outcomes. Scenario One: -- Clicking the tag name from the View Tag Albums, the tag album appears, with the tag displayed at the top of the page, and tag_albums/tag/... displayed in the url. Scenario Two: Scenario Three: SEARCH TAGS IN ALBUM Does any of this point to the next step to troubleshoot this? =========================== |

Clicking the right arrow, advances to the next photo in the tag album, but the tag is no longer displayed at the top of the page. Instead, it is replaced by the filename. The url has no mention of the tag, and is the same as if it was being viewed from the parent album. Clicking the right arrow however continues to advance through the tag album as expected. I'm not sure what you mean by "the tag is no longer displayed at the top of the page" -- If you're referring to the URL, that's normal, the tag is only part of the URL when you're browsing the virtual album. It is not part of the URL for photo pages, photos should be at their normal URL, but with UI elements like breadcrumbs and previous / next buttons adjusted to look and act like the photo is in the virtual album. For Scenario Two and Three, it sounds like its still navigating through the tagged photos, but not necessarily in the correct order? Could be some kind of sorting issue. On the Tag Albums admin screen, what settings did you use for "All Tags" Sub-Album Preferences? |

Is there any way to link to a tag by name, rather than ID? I.e., http://example.com/gallery3/tag/<tagname> or /tag_albums/tag/<tagname>, rather than something like /tag_albums/tag/<tag_id>/<some_other_number>/<tagname>? I'm trying to set up rewrite rules for all my G2 links, as the default mapper from the g2_import module doesn't seem to handle tags. But it seems that in G3, only the ID is used, and not the name (in fact, I can replace the name with another random string and it works just fine, so long as the number remains constant). |

How can I remove the photo title from below the thumbnails please. I have now upgraded to Tag Albums v4, the file structure is very different and I can not locate equivalent lines to remove. Thanks, |

Hi, is it possible to disable this in a simple way by editing the code? I would like to publish some "virtual albums" to everyone, also if the original albums/content is not public. Thanks! |

rWAtcher - are you still around? I have discovered two issues with this module. Not sure how long they've been there, as I just upgraded to 3.0.9 from 3.0.4. 1. If you open an virtual tag album and then try and run the cooliris slideshow, you get the actual album of the first thumb rather than the virtual album 2. If you have greydragon 3.2.2 configured to bypass the resize pages and go straight to a Shadowbox slideshow (slideshow mode in theme options), and if you have more than one page of thumbs in a virtual tag album, then the Shadowbox slideshow only shows the thumbs for the page you're on. I.e. if you have 2 pages each with 20 thumbs in a virtual tag album, then the Shadowbox slideshow only shows you 20 thumbs, not 40. This problem does not occur in a real album. [I have the module order module installed and have tag albums above tags, and I have the replacement pages for GD installed.] |

I don't know that there's anything I can do about cooliris, if I remember correctly it reads photos from the RSS module which I don't think has any kind of special support for dynamic pages. I'll have to look into graydragon -- if shadowbox is partially working, but not going past the current page then it might just be a matter of tweaking some code somewhere. undagiga wrote:

Great, thanks! After I made that post I had a flash of recollection that we have discussed this cooliris thing before, perhaps when we were looking at the GD4 beta, but I haven't been back to find that discussion yet. I've just switched to Colorbox rather than Shadowbox (because SB has to wait until the entire page is loaded, including Facebook social plugins, before it will run, whereas CB doesn't need to wait). But the same problem occurs with CB. If you still have the URL for my test site then you can see this behaviour there. The middle album on the top row of the root album and also the one on the right of the top row are tag albums. |

I believe this should fix everything for colorbox (two modified files, one for tag_albums\controllers and one for greydragon\views). Let me know if there's any other issues |

Thank you rWatcher. Indeed it does. I assume it would also work for the other xxx-box viewers as well. Much appreciated. I have stumbled across another really strange bug, and because of where it occurs I wonder if it's caused by Tag Albums. I will message you. |

Is it possible for a multiphoto-page with save-button on the buttom? So I can just tab through the text fields or something. |
