Server add for any user?

Hello

I was wondering about the following 'integration' feature:

- Gallery3 users also have Unix accounts on the same box
- they upload pictures via ftp, scp, syncing photo archives etc. -> photos are already available on the host beforehand
- they would like to use the 'server add' feature picking up photos from their own directory (i.e. /home/$user/)

Would this be a big effort? Is there any other way to do it?

Gallery3 is excellent!
