I've spent a few hours searching for what exactly I like, couldn't find anything
I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to create a module that does the following:
- Adds a music playlist that's specific to an album, when the album is clicked/loaded it plays music in the background (it plays regardless if the visitor clicks on a specific picture or views the slideshow, they just need to be inside the album)
- The playlist can hold up to 10 different songs, once one song is played it loops to the next
- An option to shuffle the playlist
- Each album is capable of having its own unique playlist
If possible, I am willing to pay for the completion of this project.
Please contact
if interested

This is not as easy a task as you may think.

With that being said, is it possible? My boss wants music when viewing the pictures regardless what it takes.

Count as one of those that immediately navigate away from a site that starts playing music I didn't specifically ask for.
To me, it is the epitome of cheesiness and the ultimate in bad taste and poor web design.

Designing and coding for 2+ years, I 100% agree with you, however it isn't my decision. My boss wants the music no-matter what happens.

I bet there is some limits. Care to paypal, lets say a conservative, $10,000 to start?

I can foresee a way with pure javascript, you'd need both mp3 and ogg for each track for best browser support including IE9 and up.
Which theme are you using?
Do we do a popup window?

progress...
http://suprsidr.com/ <- launch player via big blue button
while still playing head to http://suprsidr.com/video <- push blue button again
each album has its own audio feed simply by populating a directory w/ the same id as the album eg. /audio/128 where 128 is the id of the video abum
http://suprsidr.com/audio/mediaList.php?directory=/audio/1
http://suprsidr.com/audio/mediaList.php?directory=/audio/128
tested in FF, Chrome, and IE9

I added a couple more albums for demo
Fixed for Android and IE9 - will test on IOS later today
Added the clickable playlist, I'm sure it could be dressed up a bit. (any designers want to chime in?)
I really wanted to make it minimalistic and max ~180px wide - but IE's audio controls don't scale
Left it running for 5hrs last night and it was still looping through the playlist - driving my wife crazy.
Feature requests?
I think leaving the button and giving users a choice is a better design decision than forcing it. But you could easily change the window.onload

Simply amazing, everything appears to be working as you said (Didn't doubt you for a second). You can tell your wife its for a good cause, the gallery is in honor of war veterans of all generations (I am creating the website for a non-profit organization)
As for features, you appear to hit the nail on the head. From a designer perspective, giving the users the option to play the music on start-up is much better than forcing it, however it is not my decision. I will approach my boss (client) with the mentality to not play the music on start-up, but knowing him he won't budge.

Tested on iPad today, mobile safari seems to have issues w/ autoplay - sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. I thought maybe it just didn't like some of the songs.
I've split the playlist into 2 columns to save space.
I have some re-tooling todo on my xml generator.
Then I'd like to test on someone else' system.
