/home/*****/public_html/gallery/gallery3/var/ http://galleryproject.org/wl/8020_547818 I am totally new to doing this, so please excuse me if I sound like I don't know what I am doing... because I really don't. I do not know what information you will need to help me, so I will add things I think you need. I own a graphics forum called marvelousartworks.com and I am trying to add the gallery3 as a subforum to it. I have added the gallery3 into the database and also put in the var folder. When I type in www.marvelousartworks.com/gallery3/ it comes up with this window... I am getting this message: Quote:
Uh Oh But when I enter the information requested I get this message: Quote:
We were unable to connect to your MySQL server with the username and password that you provided. Please go back and try again! I am positive I am adding the correct information so I am unsure what I have done wrong. Maybe I add the gallery3 archive folder incorrectly, but I assume because it is finding it that I have it correct. Any help would be appreciated. Angel |

Dave... No... I just tried it again and made sure it was correct and it is. Oh well... guess I will just not have the gallery. It's not that I must have it...just thought it would be pretty cool since I own a graphics forum where we create graphics using Paint Shop Pro. I think I missed a step putting this in my FTP...but, not sure what step. Thanks for your help. Angel |

From reading your first post I'm wondering if you correctly created a MySQL database for your Gallery installation? This line from the manual: Quote:
Create a MySQL database for your Gallery 3 installation and note down the username and password for the Database (if required). Usually this is done in the control panel for your website. You need to make sure that the sql database is accessible by your gallery installation. If you can use a command line, you could normally validate this by doing: Make sure you are not using the username/password to access your website console because they could be different than the one to access the new database. |

jmbouffard I think that's where I am having the issue. When I created my forum testboard, I just went into my lunarpages control panel, MySQLManager, created gallery3. Then I created a directory in my FTP called gallery3 and added the folder var. Then URL http://www.marvelousartworks.com/gallery3 and it comes up to the http://www.marvelousartworks.com/gallery3/installer/ where I get the window to add all the info into. Then the UH OH error. I can give you a screenshot of what I have done if you think it would be helpful in helping me. Thanks for your time. Angel |

I guess your are close to success. On the page http://www.marvelousartworks.com/gallery3/installer/ you need to specify the following info: Database name = from your latest reply this should be the MySQL name so "gallery3" When you will have the right info then you should not get the error and the gallery should be functional. |

I did exactly as you said to do above and checked in MYSQLManager for the info needed and it's all what I have been putting in. I appreciate the time you have spent to help me...but, it looks like I just cannot get it done, so I won't waste anymore of your time. Thanks, |
