The second time I use the applet in a session, I get "Problem..." in the window instead of the filename when I "Add File". I'm not sure if the applet == the remote or not, so I'm posting this here too.
In the Apache log, when this happens, I get:
[Sun May 09 23:33:19 2004] [error] [client 192.168.1.151] File does not exist: /srv/www/htdocs/www.jay.fm/gallery/com
This is the correct path to my gallery dir, although of course there is no file or directory "com" there.. I'm guessing that's the beginning of a Java object name
that's being cut off?
I also see other errors like:
[Sun May 09 23:33:06 2004] [error] [client 192.168.1.151] File does not exist: /srv/www/htdocs/www.jay.fm/gallery/java/metadata-extractor-2.1.jar
[Sun May 09 23:33:06 2004] [error] [client 192.168.1.151] File does not exist: /srv/www/htdocs/www.jay.fm/gallery/java/JSX1.0.7.4.jar
[Sun May 09 23:33:07 2004] [error] [client 192.168.1.151] File does not exist: /srv/www/htdocs/www.jay.fm/gallery/JSX

The 404 errors are unrelated, please see this bug.
When you say
do you mean that you upload a batch of pictures, close the applet window and upload another batch, or upload a batch, then immediately add new picture to the applet and upload those?

No, the "com" not-found errors definitely happen each time I see "Problem..." in the applet. I can watch them happening. The others, maybe not related.
The failcase is:
- Upload a batch of pictures
- Immediately "add picture"
But once I do that, even closing and reopening the applet doesn't seem to help; as I recall, I have to close the parent IE window.

Oops, I can't move it; that's fine.
Can you try to upload a batch, then upload again (and see it fail) and then attach the log file (to see the Java console where the log is, right-click on the Java icon in the system tray and select console).

I've fixed this in GR 1.4-b13, and the fix will appear in Gallery 1.4.4-b129.
