Zipping files using cart module problems

Hi I have been playing with gallery 2 since installing it last night and I am trying to get the Download to zip file function working. I have downloaded the zip files from infp-zip and uploaded them into /root/zip on my webserver. I set this up in the configuration of the cart module (putting root/zip) in the place where it asks for the location of the zip executable but i just get an error when i try and select download into zip Any ideas? the "Test Settings" button in site admin reported the path is ok?
if so, then enable buffered output in config.php and try a download.. find the portion of the debug output where it tries to zip up the files and see what error message is there.
