Hi,
I'm in the process of migrating my existing Gallery 1.3 to a new web host, which will be using the Gallery 2 nightly builds (mar 2, 2005).
This new host has a disk space limit of 2.4gigs, but my existing gallery albums/ directory takes up around 2gigs (1.8 gigs gzipped). I suspect alot of these 2gigs are from the original hi-resolution images. I dont have a need for these hi-res images (at least for the web), so I hope removing these images will save some space.
Has anyone else come across this situation? If so, how did you deal with it?
I see in the G2 admin panel that there's an import-from-G1-tool which takes in the G1 albums directory, which I plan to copy over the G1 albums to the new web host for import. Will this import work if I remove some of the images, or even some of the unneeded sub album directories? I'm hoping this import tool will skip over and ignore missing images and/or albums.
Thanks in advance,
joe

joetan, if you first install gallery 1 on your new server and use that to delete the images it will work fine. If you delete images from the filesystem bad things will happen.
If you want to get rid of the original images, you could delete all the thumbs and copies of the images that you do not want, and simply upload the albums through the normal g2 web interface. You could also try the perl script g2add.pl.
Good luck!
