I have installed gallery2 on my account with powweb but I am unsure how to update or upgrade safely. I have beta 1+ and I would like to use CVS to upgrade. I hosed my install trying to upload over the top last time going from alpha to beta 1. Can someone point me to or direct me how to upgrade. I see the small section in upgrade file but it doesn't really make sense to a noob like me. thanks |

README.html in your G2 has instructions on how to upgrade.
you can't use "cvs update -dP" if you don't have ssh/shell access to the server.
so, get a nightly snapshot from http://galleryupdates.jpmullan.com, and replace your gallery2 files by the new gallery2 files.
but keep your g2data directory, the database and config.php in place.

So I am a clod for not replying sooner, but do I need to replace each and every folder and file with the exception of the d2data and config.php? That is like 15 mb to ftp up right? Do I overwrite or just delete all non-mentioned folders and upload again?

look at the README in the new update you downloaded, it has some updated instructions about uploading. yes, you want to overwrite all the files with the new files you downloaded.
