Upgrading Gallery2, nightly version

How do you guys upgrade G2 (what’s the best method), do I need to upload all the G2 content to my website every time (takes a long time) if not how to find out which files need to be upload, I download once a week from this site http://galleryupdates.jpmullan.com

upload the whole snapshot (zip/tgz) to your server and unpack it there (via shell or control panel)
or use cvs up update files directly to your server (requires shell access)
