Move albums from 1 host to another

I would like to copy many, but not all of my albums from one server to another.

I have about 6 main albums with @ 40 nested albums within each.
I would like to copy 1 of these main albums with the 40 nested to another server..
Can I simply copy the appropriate folders? Do I need to edit a dat file? This is one of those times havingthe dat info in a mysql database would make it easier (for me) to keep track.
I would prefer to move the whole thing at once rather than readding the photos again, album-by-album.

Also is there a conenient way to rename nested album folder names? (using the security patched version of 1.3.2 , I haven't noticed one)

Install a new Gallery on the new server.

Then, copy over the entire directory for the albums you want (root-level and its sub-albums) into the new albums directory. Then run "chmod -R 0777" on your albums directory to give Gallery write permission on all the files you just copied over. When you run the new Gallery, it will pick up the new additions.
