[SOLVED] Forgot my admin password

i really need your help.

somehow i forgot my admin password...so i read the FAQ's and found these suggestion.

I've forgotten my admin password! How can I reset it?

Version 1.4.3 or below: Resetting your admin password is easy; just set your Gallery into config mode, rerun the configuration wizard and specify a new password on step 2.

Version 1.4.4 and above:

1.

Create a file named

resetadmin

in your /gallery/setup directory.
2.

Visit the configuration wizard in your browser
3.

Follow the instructions on the page
4.

Specify a new password in step 2 of the configuration wizard

The config wizard will give you a special piece of information, and you will be required to edit the resetadmin file, add the string, save, and refresh your browser. This is a security measure to prove that you are an administrator.

as it says i created a file name "
resetadmin" (without any ending)...

then run the configuration wizard again...

step1: authentification ok
step2: check ok
step3: here i should be able to change the password..but i couldnt change it..it was blocked...

can anyone help me out?

jimmy_boi, the FAQ is for G1.
first, upgrade to G2 beta 3. always a good thing.
and the password that you have forgot. is it the same as the one that is in config.php? open config.php in a text editor, there you'll find the password that you typed in during the install process.

this is really strange...it seems like i always typed the right password..but still i'm not getting inside...

when i enter mambo as a admin (frontend)..and and i try to get to gallery "Admin Site"...this shows me some other error message..

first get G2 standalone to work, then let's talk about mambo (why didn't you say that this has to do with embedding in the first place?).

and delete/clear your GALLERYSID cookies in your browser, this might help for the login problem.

'cause i was not sure that time...i thought i typed the wrong password...but after checking the "config.php"...i realized that i always typed the right pw...

i guess this whole problem happened after embedding g2 to mambo...howeva...can u tell me how i can upgrade my gallery to beta version 3...is it same like upgrading a gallery v1.3 to v1.5...u know like ...overwriting the elder folders..

i cleared my cookies but i'm still having the same problem...or wat do u mean with Gallerysid cookies? where can i find it?

sorry for all those stupid question...but i'm really confused... :-o

@clearing cookies -> in your browser, IE or firefox: just go to the browser properties and clear the cookies.

@upgrading: yes, similar to upgrades in G1. but do NOT delete g2data, the database or config.php. replace the rest. then run the upgrader.

may i ask u one more question?

having some problem with the sidebar...everything works fine..but my problem is...i only need the random picture...all the other infos like "search", "actions", "your carts" and "members" i dont want to use it as a sidebar....

can anyone help me out !!

i found once a this module for random picture...and i installed it with sucess...after entering the url i hoped that it will work..but i didnt...now i think i'm making some mistake with the url... this is the url i entered... www.mydomain.de/gallery

hope one of this would work...

members -> deactivate the members module in site admin -> modules.
same for your cart,
search / actions. not that easy. that's a whole other topic and has to do with embedding. plus, it isn't solved.

well...actually i dont want to deactivate al the other modules....i only need to see the random picture on my side...i was thinking like hiding those modules not deactiving...is this possible?

there is an another module which is specifiied for randomizing...i already installed it...but i think the url i'm entering there is wrong..

the name of this zip file is: mod_g2_random_image.zip

do u know this module?
