I uploaded a mix of avi and jpgs into the same album which went smoothly from XP. Problem is as the subject states... I got a default movie icon for the first jpg, a movie icon for the first avi, then a thumb for the second avi which is the same thumb for the third jpg. The rest were jpg's and were fine. When clicking on the first jpg with the movie icon, I got a new window with the sized jpg outside of Gallery in PostNuke.
I tried moving the effected objects to another album in hopes this would fix itself, but it did not. Looking at the server, I see the first jpg's thumb and sized files are executable while all the others were not. Fixing this (644) and rebuilding thumbs did not change this either.
I don't have access to the XP box I did this from as it was over the holidays at my folks, but it was with the latest GR cvs 1.01b2. So I don't know how reproduceable it is or what caused it. It may also have been the mix of file types?
I can't show you this at this point, as I have resorted to just deleting them and plan to re-upload them soon. I plan to report the results here later.

What's really strange is that the thumbnails for movies are assigned by the server, not the client. But if you do have a repeatable test case, I'll be interested to take a look at it.

I now have uploaded the three objects I deleted previously using the same GR version but from a Linux box this time. Still getting the mixup! So maybe you are correct paour, I haven't tested the same upload using the web uploader.
Im sending you some login info privately...

Okay I have tested web uploading and get the same issue. My next plan of action is to find out what is causing this in Gallery. I am suspecting the similar file names as the problem. I have a Sled0001.avi a Sled0001.jpg a Sled0002.avi and Sled0002.jpg. Still testing...
BTW I'm going to continue posting this thread in the troubleshooting area.
