Multiple template sets for multisite?

I really like the idea of the multisite setup of gallery, but I can't seem to find any info on using a different set of templates for each site. It seems that this would be natural, having different websites look different.

Has this been implemented? If so, how do I change templates? If not, is it in the plans? I looked through the tasks and didn't see anything listed pertaining to this.

technicolor, you can set different themes/templates for each album and independently of multisites. just click on edit album and on the right tab.
a site wide default is in site admin -> layouts and themes.

but if you are referring to local customizations, then the answer is: no possible at the moment. as a workaround. but you can always create your own layouts and themes and then use different layouts / themes for each multisite.

What I'm really wanting to have are different global.tpl files for each site to change the whole wrapper, not just how albums look. I gather that this is not possible?

no, it's not possible at the moment. i guess such a change wouldn't be that hard and it's definitely something useful.
could you file a feature request on http://sf.net/projects/gallery/ ?

What is the status of this? I too would like to have a multisite installation but each individual gallery is in its own web with its own look and feel and need to have independent themes for each entire gallery. Any idea when this will be available?

nothing has changed. don't know if a feature request has been filed yet...
