Hi, I tryed to install the s.0 version of gallery. All working well and fast during installation. The only warning was about memory, I have 12 Mb and not 16.

I tryed to import a couple of albums from my previous gallery version. After the import, I try to delete one of the album imported, but the only result is a blank page, same if i try to delete a sub-album or a single photo.
other option like rearrange items for example, are working welll
Wich is the problem?

Thank you very much

Ps. I edited my thread inserting a best subject and more detailed description of the problem.

try importing in smaller batches, e.g. just one album at a time. import requires a lot of memory.

Only a question, before I start. I'm hosted on a server of a company, and there a lot of other site configured there. I can do this operation, or there is a possibility to create problem to the server? Thank you very much.

Sorry, I checked about my hosting. I've no possibility to ovveride the global settings of the web server. Infact if I put a .htaccess file in the main directory of gallery, I got a 500 error. I cant change the httpd.conf to allow ovveride in the gallery directory. What can I do?
Thank you for your assistance

then, there's nothing we can, i guess.

but:
you could ask your webhost to increase the memory limit to 16mb or better 20 or 24mb.

This type of requeste is not possible. My hosting is famous for economy and not for configuration flexibility.

But, sorry if I insist, but gallery use a lot of memory to delete an album that is pratically empty? There is no other reason for this type of problem?
I insist because I used Gallery for a couple of years and if I cant believe that I'll not able to use it in its new version...

There is no way to configure gallery to use less memory?

Thank you

You can use a new host who does have more flexibilit for it's customers ;)

G2 using a lot of memory for a simple thing could be a variety of issues, poor server config, poor DB server setup. My G2 install seems slow sometimes, but I've traced that down to my DB server.

There have been many people who have reported various problems when using 10 or 12 MB of memory, but when they bumped it up to 16 or higher their problems went away.

Still here.... :D

My hosting told me these things (sorry if something is not right, it is traduced from italian):

with .htaccess file you can access to the directives of these groups:

AuthConfig
FileInfo
Limit

end

According to this reply there is something that I can do to make gallery woking? If so, what I have to put in my .htaccess ??

if G2 seems to not work with 12mb on your webhost and they don't allow you to increase the memory limit yourself or do it for you in the server config, then there's nothing we can do about it.

either use G1, another software or change your webhost to a better one. there are thousands of webhosts which offer more probably for less money.

The only way I know to increase your memory limit with .htaccess is by the method valiant already posted: http://gallery.menalto.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=GalleryDocs&file=index&page=gallery1-install.faq.c.php#gallery1-install.faq.c.16

Hi! I had the same problem, blank page when I tried to add/delete or modify a picture/s. I had 16 MB memmory as recomended but increased it to 64 MB just to try and now it works.

Don't know how you are going to solve it since you doesn't seem to be able to change it. Perhaps look for another gallery, or G1 (don't know the requirements there).

Good luck!

I can confirm, that for me was the same issue and increasing amount of memory fixed that. I had default 8Mb, chaged to 32Mb - still was not enough, changed to 64 - everything worked fine. For me was not working a lot things: Bigger (1.5-3Mb) files were failing to upload in "create thumbnails" mode and not, Maintenance->Build all thumbnails/resizes was not working and etc.
