Topic title says it all. I can't use the Java applets to upload pictures to my Gallery 1.5.1 embedded in Joomla (1.0.4).
I get error: 'Upload error: User cannot add to album. Gallery 1.5.1 + Joomla'.
Form based uploads do work (but are quite useless for me). So i guess it has something to do with logon-credentials / cookies / sessions when initializing the applets.
Please help. Whats the solution for this ?

I can't speak directly to Joomla but in the thread:
http://gallery.menalto.com/node/27540?from=50#comment-155350
we found that some security code in PHP nuke which checks for a blank referer was causing the problem. When I removed the code from the nuke mainfile I was able to upload using the applet. You might want to see if there is code in Joomla that carries out similar checks. I believe that the Gallery applet doesn't pass a referer but the Gallery folks could give better information on that.
Hope it helps.

Has anyone figured out how to get gallery remote to work with joomla? No matter what I do, it wont identify the albums and thus you cannot upload images. The form upload DOES work but thats too tedious for my clients to use. Thanks! Mike

Sorry, I did a comment to my previous post rather than a reply. Look above in the thread.

It looks like it is an official bug though no one seems to care much about it. The only way Ive been able to deal with it is to install gallery 1.4.4 on my clients systems with joomla. If i knew how to progam Id try to fix it myself but im dumb when it comes to that
And that forum that talks about it with pph nuke doesn't help at all in joomla unfortunately. There is no similar code I can find.

I'm the guy who found the referer problem with Nuke a few posts back. Even though I have the applet working with Nuke after I "patched" the Nuke security software to ignore the lack of a referer, I've bookmarked this thread and been watching. And watching and watching and watching ... because this problem seems to be caught between stools .. the main Gallery stool and the remote stool. I spent a frustrating week checking forums all over the place and you can find this error message going back several years. They really need to get all their heads (remote and host) together at Gallery and come up with a systematic solution and not keep punting it between sides. Or telling users to check FAQ's that don't provide a solution.
Just my 2 cents. And I do love the application and appreciate the fact that it's free except for any contributions we make.
I have the same problem. And I do care.
At least this Bug is in the Bugtracker (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid=107130&group_id=7130&func=browse) and I hope it will be fixed soon.
Because this is such a nice gallery, and now it's major feature doesn't work.

Pierre fixed the bug for us! I tried it in joomla 1.0.7 and it works now. He said he would add it to 1.5.2-RC3-cvs-b7. Just wanted to let everyone know.

Hmmmm doesn't work for me yet. I still get 'User cannot add to album'. I did a fresh install of Gallery 1.5.2 (final) in Joomla 1.0.7.
Mikeh00: Are you sure that you can add photo's to albums from within Joomla ? While album-owner is not 'everybody' but for instance 'admin' ?

I got the exact same problem with Gallery 1.5.2 and Joomla 1.0.8
I tried to access the link http://jems.de/archive/1.5.2/updates/joomla-applet-upload/
but I see the fix has been removed.
Is there any other place I can download it?

Hi,
in Joomla 1.0.8 the session management has changed.
You can set the "Session Authentication Method" to "Level 1 Security Backwards Compatibility" in the Joomla backend - Global Configuration - Server tab and then try to upload again.

The Fix is no longer there because it was a fix for 1.5.2.
Its included in 1.5.2-pl2

Actually I got the error in 1.5.2-pl2,
but changing the Session Authentication Method to "Level 1 Security Backwards Compatibility" solved it for me.
Thanks for helping me out!

I just moved to a new webhost and now the gallery once again has the same problem as before, even with the newest versions of the gallery. Is there anything out there I can try? What was causing this problem in the first place? Thanks! mike
