Checkout Module - What can be done in order to obtain the cost of an item from a custom field while adding to the cart?

Please can you be a bit more specific with your question - I dont understand what you're trying to do. The latest version of the Checkout module (v0.1.12) does allow per-item pricing information to be stored in custom fields already.
