I cannot find the command to Import my 1.5 albums on the Site Admin page (as indicated in the FAQ). http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:migration

And now I find that it is actually a "module" or is that something different? I'm not migrating as this will be a new server so I need to import...

From Site Admin -> modules you need to install and activate the import -> migration module. Then a link will show up under import in the site admin menu on the left that will allow you to migrate your Gallery 1 albums into Gallery 2.

Ok, I got that.

1. But do I have to have a working gallery 1 install on this server?

If yes then goto my post on the gallery1 forum
http://gallery.menalto.com/node/45459

If no then goto question 2

2. If my gallery1 albums directory is: http://box89.bluehost.com/~leapspir/gallery1/albums what do i enter
in site admin for my gallery2 import (which is at http://box89.bluehost.com/~leapspir/gallery/)

I'm a bit confused about the ../ stuff here. I tried alot of different combinations in the box:
Path to Gallery 1 albums directory
Example: /var/www/albums

Using a small php script helped me solve this problem.

<?php

// current directory
echo getcwd() . "\n";

?>

this allowed me to enter the directory structure that the gallery migrate module could understand.
This is resolved.

Have same problem here. Moved from an OLD RH 7.2 to Centos4.2 by save data and reformat HDD. So I saved albums/ directory from Gallery 1.44r?? and now unable to import on G2 (see data about it below).

I create a showcurdir.php file with your sugestion, after run I got: /opt/galeria

My installation is on: /opt/galeria (galeria is the same as gallery on Brazilian Portuguese
I create a tmp directory under /opt/galeria (/opt/galeria/tmp/); chmod it 777 and put one album (a small one) there.
When I try to import I get a "The path that you entered is invalid." error message.
BTW :
1) I have GD enabled because I don´t have any other graphic tool installed.
2) I don´t have mod_rewrite enabled (my apache is not configurated yet)

Any tip about where search to about help (a log file maybe).

Thanks

Jáder

jader: you have to keep all of your albums together with their parent album
