Hi all
I'm trying to get Gallery Remote running, without luck thus far. :???:
I've tried both v1.0, and v1.01b3, and get the same error with them. I searched the old mailing lists and the forums, and found a couple of people with similar or identical errors, but no solutions. I'm on Windows XP, and the exact error message I get when double-clicking on or typing in a command window "run.bat" is:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/gallery/GalleryRemote/GalleryRemote
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Anybody, please?

Please, anybody? If there is more information that I need to provide to be given assistance, I'm happy to provide it - but thus far I kinda get the feeling nobody wants to help. I've posted the exact error message, but other threads posted after mine are getting far more reviews - not to mention replies.
I've done everything I can to fix this myself short of reformat my computer, which seems a bit drastic. I've checked the forums and the old mailing list, as well as Google, for similar problems, and none of them were ever given solutions as far as I can see either.
If you're reading this, and you need me to help you help me, let me know what I can do!

Can you provide more details as to what you installed? Do you have JVM "Java Virtual Machine" installed? I have GR installed on my folk's XP box just fine but did have to install some java libraries. On Linux I installed JRE "Java Runtime Environment". Also be sure to be using the latest CVS Gallery and GR since a lot of bugs have been fixed.

Thanks for the reply!
I'm using Sun's Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition, Version 1.3.1 on Windows XP. I have Gallery v1.3.3 which is said to be the latest stable version, and Gallery Remote 1.0, which is the current version and says it supports "Java 1.3 or 1.4".
Anything else you need to know?

OK, sorry you fell between the cracks... I guess Warren was asking how you installed GR: did you use the InstallAnywhere installer, and if so which one (URL or filename)?
run.bat is no longer the way to run GR, and is no longer distributed with newer installers. Newer installers provide a native Windows .exe application.
If you installed from CVS, you can and should run using the ant script ('ant run'). If you don't know what ant is, you should use the InstallAnywhere installer

Ah, it all makes sense now. Thanks for the help. Don't know if you know, by the way, but run.bat is distributed in all three of the zip files I had previously downloaded (gallery_remote_1.0.zip, gallery_remote_1.01b3.zip and gallery_remote_1.01b6.zip). I now realise those packages aren't including everything necessary to install the script, thanks again for the help.

Thanks for pointing that out. Next releases will no longer ship those old scripts.
