Can I force imageblock.External to give me only horizontal images?

I am embedding Gallery2 into my new site. I would like however to have a random image on the home page.
My problem is that G2 can return horizontal or vertical images. My page formatting doesn't really allow for this.
Is there a way to have G2 only return horizontal images? Otherwise, I may have to reformat the page on-the-fly (not something I really want to do).

Finally, my images are all 640x480 however the image on the home page would be smaller (around 300x225). Is there a way to have a 300x225 image in the database but have it only used on the home page. In other words, I don't want to view G2 pages with 300x225 images, only the 640x480 ones. Yet I don't want the larger images used on the home page, just the smaller ones.

I'm getting the feeling (from the dramatic lack of responses to my question) that this is not possible. In the event that this can't be done, can the second part of my question be done?

I could make do with knowing how to handle that. Is that possible?
