Upload Applet bug?
Windows Vista
New Java
DoubleDouble release

I using the upload applet to resize my images before upload. And they are turning a funky purple green spectrum, like a black and white image but purple and green.

Everyone worked in the past, and images are fine if I upload manual. (I have a 2 mb limit so that is why I resize first, most of my images are bigger then 2 mb.)

thanks for the help

FAQ: How to set/use Gallery in debug mode?

FAQ: What information is required when I ask for help in the forums?

What third party module or theme is causing this? (note the forum you posted in)
Does all the other upload methods work? Does non resized images have the same issue?

Dave

I noticed this same problem. Specifically, I see it with the upload applet when uploading via Firefox. If I upload via the Remote Gallery, the images upload fine. This was not a problem before the upgrade to 2.2.

Gallery version = 2.2 core 1.2.0
PHP version = 5.1.2 apache2handler
Webserver = Apache
Database = mysql 5.0.22-Debian_0ubuntu6.06.2-log, lock.system=flock
Toolkits = ArchiveUpload, Exif, Thumbnail, Gd, Getid3, SquareThumb, ImageMagick, NetPBM, LinkItemToolkit
Acceleration = none/0, full/900
Operating system = Linux someone.somewhere.com 2.6.16.29-xen #5 SMP Sun Oct 15 13:23:34 BST 2006 i686
Default theme = matrix
gettext = enabled
Locale = en_US
Browser = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3
Rows in GalleryAccessMap table = 43
Rows in GalleryAccessSubscriberMap table = 15616
Rows in GalleryUser table = 17
Rows in GalleryItem table = 15609
Rows in GalleryAlbumItem table = 476
Rows in GalleryCacheMap table = 0

What third party module or theme is causing this?

-this is the upload applet.

Does all the other upload methods work?

-yes, appears so

Does non resized images have the same issue?

-no, just when I resize via the applet

And like floridave, I am also using Firefox 2.0.0.3

Have not tested using IE7, will do this now.

ok, tested. same issue with IE7, images are weird colors after resize

however when using the upload applet in IE7 I get two weird vista security issues which I did not see when using Firefox.

how that helps

Moved to the forum that has the Java stuff. The upload applet and GR are written by the same guy.
Sorry I cant reproduce this (I don't have Vista).
Are you using IM to resize the images with the applet?

FYI, I'm not using Vista - I'm using XP PRo. I'm letting the Upload Applet resize the image when I see this.

Can you post a link to the thread where you moved this? I can't seem to find it.

Why does the title of the thread say

Quote:
Upload Applet in Vista

?
If you see this and are able to post then you see the thread.

I was simply saying that I have the same problem but it is not restricted to just Vista. It's an upload applet problem, apparently.

Upload Applet 1.0.7 + Remote Module 1.0.9 and NetPBM

Until someone actually fixes the bug, I suggest using Gallery Remote instead of the upload applet. It's the only workaround I've found that works.

yuck, I hate java apps.

Flickr has a really nice win32 app to upload images. Maybe someone should create the same.

Java never will be mainstream. After 10 years people pushing it, the biggest application I can think of is Azarus, and I even stopped using that 6 months ago for uTorrent.

Java is dead. even mobile phones are moving away from it.

There is lots of other upload methods:

and the new WEBDAV is cool.

Yea, none of those are good.

I won't use Java.
I won't use win32 software.
I can't use manual select.
I can't use manual upload, then select folder.

What we need is a FLASH up loader which you can select folders. Like mediamaster has.

And by the way, I just installed the Java upload applet on a new laptop, fresh vista install with new java.

Uploaded images are purple after the local resize :(
