Gallery Remote: Is it Still Happening?

Good evening. What is the status of the Gallery Remote protocol? Is it still being developed? It seems to be rather limited vis-a-vis the Gallery2 core api. That is not intended as a criticism, just an observation leading to a question. I am attempting to build a full-featured Gallery2 interface for my homebrewed photo management database (yes, everybody wants to be a developer.) The current Gallery Remote protocol seems capable of adding and deleting databases and items, but little beyond that. I suppose I could make a low-level connection to the server and interact directly with the Gallery2 core api via interactive-mode PHP, or roll my own server-side scripts to implement missing Gallery Remote features for HTTP access. But those options both seem like an awful lot of work. And I would have to learn PHP (I'm a Perl guy.) Thanks |

A new API will happen eventually. Something along the lines of XML-RPC or SOAP. Search around here for more information about them, but we will make a big deal about whatever it is, whenever we finish it!
