I have successfully installed GR on my Mac, and was able to work through the processs of installing ImageMagik. In trying a command line test in IM, I am able to process a test GIF so it appears to be working.
Hoever, attempts to use GR throws an error message about ImageMagick not being installed correctly, or path is incorrect to the 'convert" app for IM.

I understand that the file path properties must be correctly set in the im.properties file for GR... the default is
im.convertPath=/usr/local/bin/convert

I guess at this point I am a bit lost as to what the correct path should be? I followed the directions at:
http://www.imagemagick.org/script/binary-releases.php#macosx
to install IM, and used my $home directory. I would have thought that the default path should work?

any help is appreciated!

Moved to GR forum. GR is not a 3rd party module.
You will get better help here.

Hi,
I'm running ImageMagik on Leopard ... in fact I'm running gallery 2.2.3 on Leopard (URL http://gallery.vietnamchallenge.info/gallery2 )

The only difference is that I used macport to install all the apps required by gallery. Gallery remote just seemed to work

I have tried to use macports to install IMAGEmagick but it fails...
"Unable to execute port: invalid command name "destroot.violate_mtree"

Have tried 'selfupdate' in macports and it fails.
Error: /opt/local/bin/port: selfupdate failed: Error: rsync failed in selfupdate

Have tried reinstalling MacPorts and same errors. :(

I am at a point where I think I might just reinstall Leopard and start over. I really want to get this working.

yay! Finally got it to work, I had to install Xcode 3 development tools from the Leopard dvd (I wasn't aware that was a requirement for Macports) - and then used macports to install ImageMagick... and then Gallery 2 works!
Thanks alexsharez
