hi,

i've been using gallery remote (1.0 and now 1.0.1) happily for months. it's great!

but now all of a sudden, i can't start the application. worse, i can't launch the uninstaller. i can manually delete the folder in my Applications directory (though i suspect there are additional files elsewhere on my filesystem), but when i try to re-install fresh, the installer crashes too!

what i'm seeing is standard finder dialog "Application GalleryRemote (|| Install GalleryRemote || Uninstall GalleryRemote) has Unexpectedly Quit (no other applications have been affected)".

restarting does not fix the problem.

i have not updated my operating system nor have i messed around with any serious system settings in a long time. so i'm really at a loss for what's causing this.

the only success i've found, after following the advice in this thread: http://gallery.menalto.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=7012, is by using the platform-independent installer to get gallery remote on my system. unfortunately, the platform-independent version doesn't work very nicely with os x (though it definitely *does* work), and i'd like to not have to be relegated to using it, if at all possible.

anyway i'm really bummed that gallery remote stopped working for me all of a sudden, and i really want to figure out why and fix it.

one thing i'd like to do, if anybody can help, is to completely purge my system of all gallery remote files. so anybody out there know where on my filesystem gallery remote creates its files (aside from the obvious place)? i've looked in ~/Library/Preferences and found some crash logs (which get created by the OS, and which i'll get to in a second), but other than that i can't find any related files. however, upon running the platform-independent version, i can see that it knows the location of my site, so the preferences must be getting stored somewhere. i'm hoping whatever's causing this problem is in some file somewhere that i can delete!

about that crash log. here's the first few lines, up to the thread dump (which, for the sake of brevity, i am omitting):

Date/Time: 2003-07-23 23:39:47 -0400
OS Version: 10.2.6 (Build 6L60)
Host: nebbyknutz.local.

Command: InstallGalleryRemote
PID: 472

Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0xff9cc020

same goes for GalleryRemote itself, and the uninstaller.

any ideas? i'm attaching the file if anybody would like to look closer at the thread dump (12kb). it should be viewable in any text editor.

well that's about all i can think of to say. many thanks for any help you guys can lend!
