I have a brand new Gallery 2 installation. Also have a pretty well-organized directory tree containing images and videos (by well-organized I mean that each directory in the tree would correspond to an album in Gallery).
Is there an easy way to "import" the directory tree into Gallery, or my is only option to use one of the upload tools to individually populate each album?
FWIW, I'm using Gallery 2 on Fedora Core 8, with MySQL 5.0.45, Apache 2.2.9, and PHP 5.2.6
Thanks.

if the images are on your server already, you can use the "add from server" module to import multiple directories into multiple albums (maintaining the same album structure) in one go. However problems arise based on resource limitations with your host; most hosting providers artificially kill php scripts that run too long or use too much memory. For instance on one shared host I used I was able to import only up to about 200 pictures at once; but on my own dedicated server I've imported multi-level albums of >2000 pictures without a problem.

Cool ... that looks like what I'm looking for. I am, in fact, using my own personal server, but at the moment I'm at work and I'm having issues with ssh, so I'll try this when I can get home and restart the server.
Thanks!
