I'm probably going to get a lot of flak for this. So I'll introduce my question with the skinny. I've collected quite a few pictures on my website that is running on a dedicated server that belongs to a colleague of mine. Every once in a while, the server goes down for whatever reason or he does something and Gallery2 stops working. Frankly I'm really nervous if the server fails altogether (it has before) so I want to switch to something with a more no-brainer type solution like Picasa. Right now my Gallery doesn't even work (I have no idea what he did, but he promises to fix it soon).
Anyway, I've decided my colleague's dev-server is not the ideal place to store my photos. Is there some easy way to suck out my G2 contents and pull them over to Picasa? Thanks so much.

I know nothing about Picasa, but the albums of photos in g2 are just in the g2data/albums directory, there's no difficulty about copying them out of there.
As far as I know there's no special export tool, nor anything that will help you recover data like captions, titles, comments etc. But getting the pictures should be a no-brainer.

A Python command line script to export your Gallery2 images to Picasaweb. Relatively limited (no nested folders, makes too many assumptions about album names on disk). (gallery2picasa site)
