Over the years I've accumulated gigabytes of photographs in numerous subfolders with my Pictures directory. I've seen a perl script g2add.pl that might allow me to upload all these files and then process them automatically but I've no idea how to use it. As such, I've been using Gallery Remote to upload a directory as a time as a new album. Is there a way to do this automatically or in bulk so that I can upload multiple directories with each as its own album?
I don't care much about the name or date information because I can fix it later, the upload date as the date and the uploaded directory name as the album name would be just fine. Is there any way to do this? If not, what is the recommended method of taking a large number of local photograph folders and making them into Gallery 2 albums?
Thanks.

I'm in almost exactly the same boat as you and have located versions of both g2add.pl and galleryadd.pl -- both perl scripts that should do exactly what we're trying to accomplish.
Unfortunately, both are broken. Gallery itself has a web front-end and a java (GUI) uploader that I'm sure, given a few hours of mindless clicking, will do what I want (I've created about a dozen albums manually so far, with about 110 more to go, for example, using the web mass-upload feature).
My question is very much like yours -- am I using the right scripted approach here? Are there newer versions of the g2add.pl and galleryadd.pl that are out there, patched and working with the latest gallery code, possibly?
I'm getting errors mainly putting files into the album -- according to the galleryadd.pl, it's happily creating albums (that I cannot see from the web site).
Anyone out there that knows, please feel free to jump in.

I've gotten the mass-upload thing from multiple directories to work. See this post:
