Hi guys,
I notice theres an application on the iPhone app store callediGallery. Its not free (which i think is a bit of an insult to this open source project) however if it works i'll pat the £2.99 for it.
does anyone know if this works or not? the app has no reviews so im unsure as to how good or bas it is.
any help apreciated

£3 what have you got to loose? Then you can tell us about it or write a review.
The other option is to send me a iPhone and I will test it for you.

Hi volks!
I've written iGallery... and it comes out a free (limited) version of iGallery, so you can check and try it out
Sorry for the 4€ / £2.99, but it took half a year, until everything worked as it should - so I hope/think the price is ok ;)
Best wishes from germany
Dennis
Here are some reviews from "other appstores" ;)

Tolle App!
diese App läuft einwandfrei, meine ca. 50 Alben mit ca. 3000 Fotos werden bestens übertragen und angezeigt, man merkt kaum das man online arbeitet Diese App ist ihr Geld Wert! Danke!

I bought it to try it out.
Some things I have noticed so far;
The app overall is extremely slow.
The thumbnails aspect ratio is skewed on every photo. They are forced to be 'square' and of course, we all know that photos are just not square...
If you have large galleries like me, of 1,000+ photos per gallery, it takes an EXTREMELY long time to download the thumbnails. It seems to download 100% of the thumbnails on first load of the gallery.
After they are loaded, on subsequent access, it takes a long time to display. I am guessing that the 'resizing' is happening real time, instead of storing them in the resized form.
Pagination is extremely weak. What you would expect from an iphone app, is an iphone interface... being able to swipe to change pages would be nice.
When you add a new gallery on your gallery site (which I do quite often), you need to reload all the galleries by going to 'settings' then 'reload album list'. This is annoying. A background check when starting the app, to see if there is new albums, would be better.
Being able to configure the size/quantity of image cache would be handy. I have massive galleries, I don't want my iphone 100% full of cached images. There seems to be no way to clear them from the cache, individually, or by gallery.
The gallery list does not honour the sorting of my galleries. It forces alphabetical sorting.
I have to switch between showing images, or gallery titles. In image mode, you do not see sub galleries. In gallery title mode, you do not see images... The obvious way to display this would be to show the gallery images with a unique frame or something to identify them as galleries.
The image view does NOT support landscape view. All other gallery apps for iphone let you tilt the phone into landscape, to view landscape photos with the whole screen. This app will not do it.
Occasionally the app crashes. Much more often than any other app.
I have not tried any of the upload features, or creating galleries yet.
Overall, my opinion, is that it isn't worth what the author is asking for it. $0.99 maybe in a pinch.
If the app was cleaned up, had standard gallery features, a real iphone interface added, and many of the bugs cleaned up, it might be worth purchasing. Otherwise I would not recomend it.

A follow up, I just tried the upload feature.
I picked an album to upload to, picked a picture from my iPhone, and hit upload. I waited about 7 minutes (on wi-fi, should take about 4 seconds to upload a photo) and it finally posted.
Apon looking at the album, there was no picture. It seems to have uploaded to the root, not the album I selected.
So, in short, the upload is slow, and buggy also.

Any updates from the author?
I'm happy to pay $4.99 if this app works as a viable Gallery Remote substitute, and gets updated to a universal iPhone/iPad binary.

Just a further update from me; I haven't seen a new version posted of this app. However, I did discover that lanscape mode works 'sometimes', but only if you tilt the phone in one specific direction, which is opposite to the standard lanscape direction. It seems to be buggy however, because it doesn't always work.
Would love to start a 2-way with the original author to get this app improved. It has definite potential.

I still use Gallery. This IGallery does it support video's and can you easily update photo's/video's?

then what is so good about it, rather use Gallery until somebody really makes something worthwhile buying. Honestly: I will pay $10 or more, as long as it works!
cmon: there are thousands of Gallery users with an Iphone who will buy it!!!

I agree, I already purchased the app, but it's lacking in many respects (see my previous comments).

glad to know that iGallery is being actively developed. have a look at http://dev.imount.de/igallery/ and the upcoming 1.2 version - http://dev.imount.de/2010/06/30/dear-igallery-lovers/
I got interested and emailed the author because if it works on my setup, I'll recommend it to my users (have a few hundred).

Uhm, it also seems not to be an update, but a newly submitted app... Meaning, those of us who already purchased it, will have to buy it again to get the fixed version...
At $4.99 it's a bit pricey for what it does, given I've already paid and have many complaints that aren't resolved in this update...
What's with that?

if you haven't done so, post a feedback on the iTunes page, provide as many details as possible (ipod version, itunes version, etc..) and what's broken with the features/functionality. David needs to really take this seriously to a new level - else, he'll be loosing potential customers.
I'm waiting for my new iPod Touch to test this out, until then, I won't be able to comment. But i think it's cheap, $5 should be nothing, just need to give up a burger or sandwich on your next payday, heh. in your case, it would be $10 since you already paid for the previous release.

$4.99 for an iPhone app is already 5x the standard, and given that the defacto software standard is that bug fixes are always FREE, an additional $4.99 is ALOT to ask. Especially knowing that the very next update might be exactly the same, and I'll have to buy it yet again.
And for us folks on a budget, who can't afford to eat out, $5 is 3+ meals.
If there was additional features or it was a complete from the ground up rewrite, I 'might' understand charging. But this release is just insulting...
Don't think I'm going to waste any more of my time or money with it. I've posted here, at the developers site, and tried to contact him via email with no response. Given that he's also posted in this thread, he should be paying attention here, but it doesn't seem he's actively supporting his app.

my thoughts on iGallery 1.2:
-1 can't save images to Photos library
-1 can't move, edit (titles) or delete albums/photos
-1 always needs to authenticate when reloading an album
-1 can't handle hi-res image (2000 x 3000 pixels)
-1 having to scroll down the album list to "add" a new album to upload to
-1 not being able to select & upload multiple photos
+1 works on my iPod Touch 2G running IOS 4.0.1 on a Gallery 2.3.1 multisite
+1 supports landscape image viewing/swiping (doesn't make the switch until an image is selected)

Are you running a developers BETA of iOS 4.1 (it hasn't been released yet) or is it actually 4.0.1 (which is only available on the iPhone...)?

oops my mistake, i meant 4.0.1 - thanks for pointing that out!

and it crashes, if your album has more than 50 items!
and the threshold before another thumbnail page is created is too high, should be 20 or less than 50.
