Experiences of successful business model using G2 ?

I was wondering if anyone has (and is willing to share) a successful experience of selling pics online using G2. I installed a G2 website a while ago for a client and did and handful of customizations but now the client is coming back to ask me more customizations as the site is unsuccessful in selling the photos.

In his original idea, guest and registered users can see small watermarked resizes (800x600), then when they want to buy full size (checkout module + checkout download + checkout paypal) they would get a discount according to their registration package. In order to achieve this I customized the registration module to allow for package selection which internally maps to gallery groups, then assigned a specific discount to each group.

This is working fine, just not selling so I'm now looking for other ideas to advise my client in the hope that he'll be able to get some money back for his investment.

I guess selling prints is one idea that should be working, but I can see a major headache here, correct me if I'm wrong but there is apparently no way to estimate the shipping cost as they would depend on countries, volume and weight of the order. I was thinking on making a semi manual solution where the owner receive an email enquiry to buy some prints and he then estimate the shipping costs manually and answer to the end client by email but I found this not very elegant solution.
