Gallery as a client database

I would like to use gallery2 to manage my customers pictures as follows. After a photoshooting, I want to upload all the pictures and e-mail them an user id with a password so they can have access to review the photos, post comments and choose the type of prints they want. I want them only to be able to access their pictures folders and not everyones folders.
I am sure this is possible but I just dont know how. Who could help me out?

Is there a way to add on online proofing? I want to offer my clients a way to view their pics right away online and pick the pictures they want me to edit.. Since they pay up front, there would be no need for payment options. So, they would add to a cart the pics they want, and then that list gets emailed to me. If there is an option to add notes so they can say things like crop that guy on the right out, thats even better!
