"Edit Item" and enclosing folder.

This is a permissions question. I allow my users to upload their items into a folder. They then have the ability to edit that item. Problem is, they still have the ability to edit the folder that encloses that item. They are continually doing that, and actually uploading a custom thumbnail instead of uploading a picutre (they are not too bright).

Is there any way around this?

I am on 2.3.
